A Mycoblitz was conducted in the Summer of 2004 to collect macrofungi fruiting bodies for identification and inventory. The collections were made by Mycology experts from around the world.

All fungal collections were collected by hand using a random walk approach along trails. Fungi, except for polypores, never fruit in the same place and for the most part, represent ephemeral fruitbodies (mushrooms) that erupt after a rain then disappear. Collectors took these fruitbodies but did not disturb the underground hidden fungal mycelia and so do not damage the fungus.
